Introduction/general information on magnetic field therapy

 

Modern magnetic field therapy with pulsating magnetic fields has already been in use in various medical disciplines for more than 30 years. Its success has been examined and proven in more than 7500 medical studies so far.

 

In the US, the effectiveness of magnetic field therapy is recognized by the FDA. At the beginning, mainly patients suffering from orthopedic disorders were treated with the magnetic field therapy. In the meantime, the range of applications has continuously been increased based on the past experience and intensive research. For example, it is known today that there is hardly any disease in which a supporting magnetic field therapy does not have a positive effect.

 

In modern medicine, magnetic field therapy is becoming more and more important since it not only activates the self-healing power of the body and can be used in the treatment of many diseases as a result, but also because its circulation-stimulating effects constitute an excellent prevention and increase the performance.

 

What is magnetic field therapy?

 

The central point of magnetic field therapy is the effect of magnetic fields on the cells and the ion transport which takes place at the cell membranes. Magnetic fields penetrate the organism completely, including the individual cells. Each cell normally has an electric surface voltage of approx. 70 to 90 mV which is used for supporting the sodium, potassium and calcium ion exchange. Healthy cells maintain the potential difference of the cell membrane through an active transport of ions. If, however, the electric potential is not present, the metabolism is disordered.

 

Consequences not only include geriatric diseases. Constantly increasing factors acting on the body, such as stress, lack of exercise, and environmental impact, which contribute to an oxygen deficiency in the body and must be taken into consideration when treating diseases, strain the consistency and are detrimental to health.

This is where magnetic field therapy becomes important. Pulsating magnetic fields can excite the transport of ions by influencing the electrical currents support a normalization of the cell's membrane potential.

 

As soon as the magnetic field is applied, the metabolism of the cell measurably increases. Additionally, general effects of the magnetic field therapy were found, including pain relief, a spasmolytic effect, an anti-inflammatory effect, better immunity, wellness and many more.

Magnetic field therapy - the functional principle

The application of the Magnetovital®  magnetic field therapy results in a significantly improved blood circulation which leads to a better supply of the body's cells with oxygen and nutrients and causes an increase of the ATP synthesis at the mitochondria. In this process, the energy-rich ATP (life energy) is generated from the low-energy ADP and AMP, reacting with oxygen and energy carriers such as fats and carbohydrates. As a by-product, carbon dioxide is formed in this process, among other things, and transported out of the cell through the membrane. The ATP obtained is required to maintain vital processes such as the stabilization and maintenance of the membrane potential.

 

 

The membrane ensures a controlled cell metabolism and provides cellular communication paths. In the case of a reduced ATP production in the cells, a disorder of the membrane potential or the active transport mechanisms of the membrane occurs. Due to this disorder, there is an accumulation of metabolism products within the cell.

 

Due to the improved blood circulation mentioned above and the resulting production of ATP, the Magnetovital®  magnetic field therapy positively influences the cellular functions so that pathological cellular processes are undone and the physiological function of the cell is restored. In addition to that, certain enzymes are activated which, as bio-catalysts, cause chemical reactions in the cell. Magnetic fields affect all magnetic substances. There is an interaction between magnetic and electric fields. Electric charges are also influenced by magnetic fields. The electric charge carriers subordinate to these influences which also determine the mobility and movement of electrons and the whole flow of ions.

 

Most biological processes are related to electrical processes or are supported by such processes. Just think of the nervous signals or the potassium-sodium exchange at the cell membranes. Nervous cells, as good electric conductors, are even able to generate indication voltages and to pass them on so that organic parts which are touched by these nerve paths are excited, in addition to the magnetic influence, by real electric micro-voltages, pulsating with the magnetic field. As one can see, all electrical processes in the body are affected by applied magnetic fields.

If we assume that the metabolism in the body is linked to the exchange of positive and negative ions, the metabolism between the cell's interior and its periphery can be influenced by the magnetic field according to the principle of ion exchange. This finding is all the more important since it is known that in a disordered (i.e. ill) organism, the cellular metabolism, the cellular voltage and the distribution depend on the supply with oxygen and other energetic charge carriers, which are disturbed in the case of ill animals. Magnetic fields contribute to eliminate these disorders by way of a merely energetic influence, moving the materials which can be influenced directly at the frequency of its magnetic vibrations. The cell division rate is increased. Examples for this include the quick healing of wounds and the accelerated decomposition of haematomas.

 

Summary of the effects of MAGNETOVITAL® 

 

The Magnetovital® therapy mainly influences the oxygen supply and thus the supply of energy in the individual cells. However, it also has a regulating effect on the vegetative nervous system. A misbalance in this system is the most frequent cause of complaints. The functions controlled by the vegetative nervous system affect the inner organs such as the stomach, intestines, bladder, heart and the lungs, but also the blood pressure regulation. In these times with multiple sensors to which animals with functional disorders react, a harmonization of the sympathetic and the parasympathetic nervous systems cannot be overemphasized. Magnetic field therapy can reduce the activity of the sympathetic nervous system.

 

The following therapy-supporting effects of magnetic field therapy have been verified by studies:

 

1.       Activation of the sodium/potassium pump in the cell membrane with increase of the cell membrane voltage.
          Consequence:
Improvement of the transport of ions, excitation of the energy/cell metabolism, improvement of the oxygen
          utilization, regeneration of cells, increase of vitality and functionality of the animal. Ill cells have a reduced cell membrane
          voltage (potential difference) with the consequence that the oxygen exchange of the cell is significantly reduced due to an      
          oxygen deficiency.

 

2.       Improvement of the blood circulation due to vasodilatation at the pre-capillary sphincters and, consequently, reduction of the blood vessel resistance which results in an increased oxygen and nutrient supply, improvement of the discharge of metabolism products, de-toxication, removal of tensions, elimination of local acidosis, accelerated healing of wounds.

 

3.       Shift of the oxygen binding curve to the right, resulting in an increased binding and utilization in the tissue. Increase by 30 % possible (study Fardon 1966, Pereira 1967).

4.       Release of calcium: calcium is a messenger substance within the cells. An increase results in an excitation of the metabolism, the cell division rate, cell differentiation, reduction of vascular spasms, increase of sensitivity to cortisol and adrenalin. Activation of the insulin receptors, regulation of neuro-vegetative functions, activation of macrophages and T-lymphocytes. (study: Carson 1990)

 

 

5.       Additionally, the electrical transfer of the nerve pulses is changed by the inductions, and mechanical stimulations are triggered in the bones:

 

         1.     Induction voltage generated by the magnetic field in the nerves and connective tissue generates stimuli which increase   
                 the regeneration rate of injured cells.

 

2.    Pain relief: Hyperpolarisation of pain-relieving nerve cells enables pain therapy by interruption of the transmission of the pain stimulus to the brain on the spinal cord level, which breaks the vicious circle of the consecutive increase of the muscle tension (myogeloses).

 

3.     Piezoelectric effects are of great importance when it comes to healing bone tissue. Due to the change between straining and relieving the bone, currents are generated which trigger off repair mechanisms which result in an increase of the bone mass. Pulsed magnetic fields have similar effects and support the growth of bones. According to Schütz, the cell division of bone-forming cells is supported, too. According to modern views, the bone cells loose their susceptibility to the inhibiting hormone PTH from the parathyroid gland, which increases the activity of osteoplasts.

In 1996, Liu, Abbot and Bee published a study which shows that pulsed electromagnetic fields have an influence on the decomposition of these sulfur-containing protein combinations. This is very important for the treatment of arthroses (spavin).

 

6.       Directly stimulating effect on nerve cells (1998 University Göttingen,  increased nerve regeneration)

 

7.       Stimulation of fibroblasts: this is important for the healing of wounds. Magnetic field therapy directly acts on the connective tissue cells. Like in bones, the cell division rate is increased thanks to the calcium-influencing processes.

 

8.       Activation of macrophages and lymphocytes

          (lymphopoetin, immunostimulation)

 

9.       Reduction of thrombocyte aggregation (flow properties)

 

10.     Regulation of vegetativum (normalization of heartbeat,

          improvement of breath volume)

 

11.     Regulation of the plexus myenterius in the intestines with consequential digestion activity

13.     Effect on the water of the extracellular space;
